In person.
So you clicked. Thank you.
Most people don’t make it this far.
This is the part where I write about myself, while trying not to bore you to death.
My name is Josef, I also go by Yossi. An engineering leader, a husband, a father, a human. Based in Tel Aviv, Israel, though once in a while I get to roam around the world and share my thoughts about stuff.
I’m a software engineer by heart and by profession, who somehow found himself working as a manager for the better part of a decade.
I’ve spent the past 18+ years blurring the lines between leading tech and leading people. I’ve worked in a variety of companies, from fintech to cyber security, and for the last 5 years I’ve been leading Wix’s Big Data & Analytics Platform Group. (If you care to know more, you can always slide over to my LinkedIn page.)
I got into engineering because I love understanding how things work, and the magic needed to make them better. Later I found that understanding how people work, and helping them be better, is just as interesting, if not more. Turns out there’s more in common than we think between complex systems, organizational culture and the human condition.
In the time I have left between juggling my day job and my duties as a father of two, I mix teaching others with entertainment. From long form writing that few still have the attention span to consume (yeah, I know you gave up on the 2nd paragraph…), to traveling the world and speaking in front of hundreds of people, sharing from my experience. If there’s an ear available, I’ll be there to say what I think is worth repeating.
Thanks for sticking around. Attention is hard to come by these days.
If something here made you want to argue with me, or you’d just like to
say hello, I’d like that.
